First impressions of the smartwatches at IFA 2014 - kellywalway

Today, we had the bump to amble more or less this year's IFA in Berlin. After some minor distractions wish a rollercoaster ride with the Occulus, we focused on getting our hands connected the available smartwatches. Watching the press conferences and beholding press material is extraordinary thing, but having them on your wrist joint and feeling the material is much more exciting. We took a close look at the new LG G Watch R, the Samsung Appurtenance S and the Sony SmartWatch 3. After the initial "wow", our reaction upset very quickly into a mere "meh". Let me explain!

Samsung Gear S ($unknown)

Samsung's new smartwatch is definitely the most powerful you tooshie beget at the moment. It has its personal nano sim card, lets you make or answer calls, case messages on a prissy on-screen keyboard and doesn't need to be paired to a phone. It's fundamentally a fully independent smartwatch. But to be honest, it doesn't count similar a watch. It looks and feels like a small smartphone that can be worn happening your wrist. It doesn't feel natural the least bit. Although Samsung formed a great man of gadget in terms of functionality and features, it did a poor job at manufacturing something that's supposed to be a watch. The job is that consumers screw how a ascertain usually looks and how one feels on their wrist. So they kinda buy in a smartwatch that delivers such an experience and meets consumers' expectations.

Sony SmartWatch 3 (229€)

When you cannot find many words all but something, than it backside either embody because of overwhelming emotions or because you'rhenium not affected at each. The last mentioned was the case with Sony's SmartWatch 3. Next to their great superficial Z3 series phones and tables, the watch looks quite tacky and disappointing. With its silicon straps, it does look many like a watch you'd wearing during sportswoman but there's tranquillize that rough-cut design that is just not convincing anyone to leave out their billfold. Since Sony has no ascendence over Android Wear, the only way to get populate to buy up a their smartwatch is a great project and feel. Mission non accomplished, Sony.

LG G Ticker R (299€)

LG's first round smartwatch is, until at once, the closest alternative to the nonclassical Moto 360. And the great intelligence Hera, it really looks the likes of a watch! Hard to believe, I know. Obviously, that's mostly thanks to the beat observe face. But that's not it. The whole physical process of putting the G Watch R on your wrist, wearing  and hardly feeling information technology resembles the feeling of putt on a proper watch. The only negative things that I, personally, found are the rather big bezel and the generic design of the watch. The size of the bezel survive look clunky and the design reminds Pine Tree State a little bit of the cheap watches you can stock discounters or gas stations. It impartial doesn't have that subtle timeless design that I expect when paying 299€ for a watch.

LG and Motorola clearly offer the uncomparable looking smartwatches rightfield now. They centered more on what a watch actually is: A fashion statement, that tells its owner the time and is hardly detectable on 1's wrist. However, there's still a circle of work to knock off terms of functionality. Getting your notifications and fitness data on your catch is just not adequate. Let's see what Apple volition take to the table at their event on Sept 9.
